KNOWING JESUS PART 2

The Prophecies

The Book of Micah

The prophet Micah declared that Jesus, whose origins have been “from of old, from everlasting” would come out of the small community of Bethlehem (5:2). Matthew 2:1-6 confirms this village as His exact place of birth. John 7:42 also explains that Jesus the Messiah would’ve been born of the lineage of King David in the small town of Bethlehem.

Isaiah 7:14, states that Jesus would’ve been born of a virgin and named Immanuel. Immanuel literally means, ‘God is with us.’ The prophet Isaiah in chapter 9:6-7 proclaims Him as the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, in other words, the eternal God, and the Prince of Peace. He will rule His people with justice and truth and His governance will be eternal. Matthew 1:20-23 confirms the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecies. In Matthew, Joseph was told to go ahead and marry Mary because the Holy Spirit conceived the child that she was pregnant with. The child will be a boy and He would be named Jesus because ‘He will save His people from their sins.’ So yes, Jesus was born of a woman and His mother’s name is Mary. His divine Father is the Almighty God and His step-father or earthly dad is Joseph.

The Book of Zechariah

In the text of Zechariah 9:9, we learn that the Messiah, Israel’s righteous, victorious, and humble King, would enter Jerusalem triumphantly ‘riding on a donkey, even a donkey’s colt.’ The books of Matthew (21:7-11), Luke (19-35-37), and John (12:12-15) confirm the fulfillment of this prophecy. In these scripture passages we learn that Daddy Jesus entered Jerusalem on an ass. The multitude covered the roadway with their coats to welcome Him while others cut off tree branches and spread them along the road. The whole city was enthused at His coming. Some of the people asked, ‘Who is this?’ while others shouted and praised God in the march. I can only imagine what a wonderful parade it must have been to see our Dad riding on a donkey and entering Jerusalem on this special day.

The Book of Deuteronomy

In the writings of Deuteronomy (18:15), it was also revealed that Daddy Jesus, the Messiah, would be a prophet similar to Moses. John 7:40-42 points to the fulfillment of this prophecy, when some of the people acknowledged that Daddy Jesus was indeed ‘the Prophet.’ Others considered Him to be the Messiah, and still some doubted thinking that Galilee is not good enough for the Messiah to come out of. Acts 3:20-23, also tells us that at the appointed time, God will send our Daddy Jesus again for the final restoration of all things, as God had promised long ago through His servants.

Well, we hope that you have whetted your appetite and that your interest has been stimulated in wanting to know more about Daddy Jesus. Please return here for other blog posts in knowing God’s dearly beloved Son.
